Farmer Bu Bu loved his beautiful watermelon garden. Every morning, as the sun rose over the rolling hills, he walked among the rows of green vines, ensuring his watermelons grew big and juicy. His companion, a curious and playful baby monkey named Su, was always by his side. Su loved to leap from vine to vine, carefully avoiding stepping on the delicate plants.
One day, Farmer Bu Bu noticed that some of the watermelons had tiny holes in them. He frowned and scratched his head. “What could be causing this?” he wondered aloud. Baby Monkey Su, always eager to help, climbed up to the tallest tree nearby and scanned the field.
Su’s sharp eyes soon spotted the culprits—pesky birds were pecking at the watermelons! Su let out a series of excited chirps and pointed toward the flock. Farmer Bu Bu chuckled. “Good job, Su! Now we know what’s happening.”
Together, they decided to build scarecrows to keep the birds away. Farmer Bu Bu gathered sticks, old clothes, and straw, while Su helped by picking up shiny objects like tin cans and ribbons. They worked hard under the warm sun, creating scarecrows with outstretched arms and glimmering decorations to frighten away the birds.
The next morning, the birds hesitated to approach the garden, deterred by the scarecrows swaying in the breeze. Farmer Bu Bu and Su watched from a distance, proud of their teamwork. The watermelons grew undisturbed, their green rinds slowly turning darker as they ripened.
When harvest time came, the garden was full of the biggest, sweetest watermelons Farmer Bu Bu had ever grown. He thanked Su with a special treat—juicy slices of watermelon. Su squealed with delight, munching happily as they celebrated their success together.
